Certification Requirements
ALL YOU NEED IS A DESIRE TO LEARN AND TO SUCCEED IN YOUR FIELD.
CONDITION MONITORING CERTIFICATIONS
Vibration Analysis CAT-I
In order to be certified you must:
- Complete a MIBoC approved training course (click here for a list of approved courses).
- Achieve 70% or higher on the certification exam (60 multiple choice questions, duration 2 hours).
- Have six (6) months of practical vibration analysis work experience, verified by an independent person.
Certification is valid for 5 years.

Vibration Analysis CAT-II
In order to be certified you must:
- Complete a MIBoC approved training course (click here for a list of approved courses).
- Achieve 70% or higher on the certification exam (100 multiple choice questions, duration 3 hours).
- Have eighteen (18) months of practical vibration analysis work experience, verified by an independent person.
Certification is valid for 5 years.

Vibration Analysis CAT-III
In order to be certified you must:
- Complete a MIBoC approved training course (click here for a list of approved courses).
- Achieve 70% or higher on the certification exam (100 multiple choice questions, duration 4 hours).
- Have thirty-six (36) months of practical vibration analysis work experience, verified by an independent person.
- Have previously been certified to VCAT-II by a MIBoC approved certification body.
Certification is valid for 5 years.

Vibration Analysis CAT-IV
In order to be certified you must:
- Complete a MIBoC approved training course (click here for a list of approved courses).
- Achieve 70% or higher on the certification exam (60 multiple choice questions, duration 5 hours).
- Have sixty (60) months of practical vibration analysis work experience, verified by an independent person.
- Have previously been VCAT-III certified by a MIBoC approved certification body.
Certification is valid for 5 years.

Ultrasound-I
In order to be certified you must:
- Complete a MIBoC approved training course (click here for a list of approved courses).
- Achieve 70% or higher on the exam (60 multiple choice questions, duration 2 hours).
- Have six (6) months practical ultrasound work experience, verified by an independent person.
- Provide evidence of passing a hearing test administered by a licensed professional.
Certification is valid for 5 years.
If you do not provide evidence of passing a hearing test, but you meet the other certification requirements, you will be issued conditional certification.

Infrared Thermography-I
In order to be certified you must:
- Complete a MIBoC approved training course (click here for a list of approved courses).
- Achieve 75% or higher on the exam (50 multiple choice questions, duration 2 hours).
- Have twelve (12) months practical work experience in the field of thermography-based machinery condition monitoring and diagnostics.
- Pass an online colour test administered by MIBoC.
Certification is valid for 5 years.

Field Lubrication-I
In order to be certified you must:
- Complete a MIBoC approved training course (click here for a list of approved courses).
- Achieve 70% or higher on the exam (70 multiple choice questions, duration 2 hours).
- Have twelve (12) months practical work experience (with a minimum of 16 hours per month in lubricant-analysis-based condition monitoring).
Certification is valid for 5 years.

ASSET RELIABILITY PRACTITIONER® [ARP] CERTIFICATIONS
ARP-A
In order to be certified you must:
- Complete a MIBoC approved training course (click here for a list of approved courses).
- Achieve 70% or higher on the exam (60 multiple choice questions, duration 2 hours).
- You must have a minimum of six (6) months of work experience in the industry involved in some way with reliability improvement, verified by an independent person.
Certification is valid for 3 years.

ARP-E
In order to be certified you must:
- Complete a MIBoC approved training course (click here for a list of approved courses).
- Achieve 70% or higher on the exam (100 multiple choice questions, duration 3 hours).
- You must have a minimum of twenty-four (24) months of experience in the industry involved in some way with reliability improvement (including direct involvement in the reliability improvement process), verified by an independent person.
Certification is valid for 3 years.

ARP-L
In order to be certified you must:
- Complete a MIBoC approved training course (click here for a list of approved courses).
- Achieve 70% or higher on the exam (100 multiple choice questions, duration 3 hours).
- You must have a minimum of forty-eight (48) months of experience in the industry involved in some way with reliability improvement (including direct involvement in the reliability improvement process either as a reliability engineer or a program manager/leader), verified by an independent person.
Certification is valid for 3 years.
